Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- After a cooler than normal start to August, the heat will be making a comeback this week.
Monday temperatures topped off at 91° in Columbia, today we are expecting temperatures to climb into the lower 90s.
Little rain is expected today through Thursday as dryer air pushes in from the west.
The heat will be building especially Wednesday and Thursday as highs climb into the middle and maybe even upper 90s.
Heat index values may make it feel like the triple digits by Thursday afternoon.
A cold front will approach the area by Friday, this will increase our chances for showers and storms.
The front is expected to stall in the area and this will lead to unsettled weather for the weekend.
There will be a chance for showers and storms on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the middle to upper 80s.
