Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County social services officials say a baby girl was abandoned at Palmetto Health Richland hospital.
The nearly two month old child was left under the the protection of medial professionals on Monday.
Agency officials say abandonment falls under the provisions of "Daniel's Law," which allows an infant to be left at certain designated areas with no repercussions if the child is also unharmed.
The little girl, who right now is only being called "Baby Doe," weighs about 12 pounds.
A permanency hearing for the child will be held at the Richland County Family Courthouse at 1701 Main Street on October 17, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Any person wishing to assert their parental rights must do so at that hearing.
