Body of Swimmer in Saluda River Found

The body of a swimmer who went missing on Friday has been found.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department says the body of a swimmer who went missing in the Saluda River Friday has been found. 

According to officials, the body was recovered just after 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

The identity has not yet been released and the body has been turned over to the coroner's office.

Columbia firefighters got a call Friday around 6 pm that a man had gone under the water in the Saluda River not far from where it flows past the Riverbanks Zoo. 

The Department of Natural Resources also assisted with the search.
