Bus Driver Gets $116,000 in Social Security Fraud

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A Columbia woman has pleaded guilty to defrauding the government out of $116,000 worth of Social Security benefits.

Monique Aaron, 45, entered the plea Thursday in federal court.

According to evidence presented in court, Aaron worked as a bus driver for Richland School District One. Prosecutors say she falsely claimed she was unable to work, however, and got benefit money from the government.

Aaron will be sentenced at a later date. The maximum possible penalty is 10 years in prison.
