Chapin Town Clerk Files Lawsuit

Chapin, SC (WLTX) - The town clerk of Chapin has filed a lawsuit against the town and the mayor.

In her lawsuit, Adrienne Thompson is seeking monetary damages to be determined by a jury and charges the mayor James "Skip" Wilson with defamation of character.

She also filed a complaint claiming age discrimination.

Back in April, the Mayor suspended her from office after he accused her of unauthorized purchasing and spending more than town ordinances allow. Thompson denied the allegations and said she only did what her job duties entailed.

Town Council reinstated her earlier this month saying the mayor had no authority to suspend her.
