Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Forty-eight jobs and at least $6.6 million dollars are expected to be invested in Richland County.

Richland County Council approved a fee in lieu of tax agreement Tuesday night with Hengshi USA Wind Power Materials Corporation.

The company manufacturers fiberglass fabric products that are used in wind turbine blades and utilized in space flight and aviation.

According to the county's Economic Development Office the company will also work with China Jushi. China Jushi is also investing in Richland County. The China Jushi manufacturing facility is being built along Pineview Road and is expected to be complete by 2018. China Jushi is also expected to create 400 manufacturing jobs.

"It makes us feel real good and actually, that's a conservative message and that's what we really like about it. They (Hengshi) come in on a lower end in terms of here is the minimum we expect to gain for it, but in reality often times once they get here and realize that the potential is here to do more, the land use is available and the workforce is available, it ends up being greater than the number we initially started with, so we are very excited about that," Councilman Chip Jackson said.

County Council hopes that the deal will eventually create a $12 million investment.
