Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- It's not officially the holidays until the city tree is lit and on Tuesday, hundreds of people welcomed the Christmas spirit with the tree-lighting ceremony in Forest Acres.
It was the 14th annual Sweet Seasons celebration. There was live music from The Tams, performances by Palmetto Performing Arts, and of course, Santa.
The children took their photo with Santa, and told him what they wanted for Christmas, which included an American Girl doll, a slinky, and a Barbie.
But the celebration was more than just seeing Santa, it's become a tradition for families.
"We've been coming since she was a little baby. It's a great way to start the season every year," said Daniela Cuddington.
If you weren't able to make Tuesday's tree lighting ceremony, there are plenty of events taking place this weekend.
