Columbia Antique Shop Bought By Apartment Developers

The building is making way for a new development in the Vista.

Columbia, SC (WLTX)- It doesn't take a lot to notice some of the oldest spots in Columbia are being replaced by student housing or apartments.

Now adding itself to that list is Chic Antique by the Vista.

Chic's has been around for 35 years and will be closing it's doors come February.

The antiques store was bought by PMC Group, an apartment development company that also owns the Palmetto Compress next door and the Olympia Mill.

Between PMC's 4 properties they have 727 apartments in the area. They do not however, know exactly what they'll do with the Chic Antique property off Blossom and Huger St.

The store's owner Conrad Powell says he's not sure what he'll do next either, "if I find another location that works then we will down scale and move I hope… but I haven't found the place yet."

Nikki Victoria has been living in Columbia for over 15 years and says, "it is really nostalgic this is one place I've always known to be here in Columbia and with all the different things that are going it's sad to see one last piece of Columbia going."

They have a liquidation sale going on from now until they close their doors. Most items are anywhere from 20-50% off.
