Chamber of Commerce Calls For Recreation Commission Board Members to Quit

Columbia chamber calls for Richland County Recreation Commission

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - More people are calling for the leadership of the Richland County Recreation Commission to quit.

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to the lawmakers who originally called for the resignation of the executive director and five of the commission's board members. In it the chamber said it's supports the lawmakers call for action.

Carl Blackstone is President and CEO of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

In the letter he wrote, "Our region's quality of life, especially quality of recreational opportunities and attractive parks, is key to our area's economic success and the continued growth of our businesses. For this and the above stated reasons, the Columbia Chamber strongly encourages Director Brown and Commissioners Green, Mickens, Furgess, Martin, and Weeks to resign immediately."

The board of commissioners for the recreation commission are set to meet next on Monday September 19 at 6 p.m..
