Columbia Native Killed While Working on Film

Wayne County, Ga (WLTX) - A Columbia native was killed Thursday afternoon in Georgia while working on a film about the life of Greg Allman.

According to Sheriff John Carter of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a call Thursday afternoon about a train hitting several people on a train trestle.

Deputies arrived to find people with the Open Road Films and the Meddin Studios from Savannah, filming a movie called "Midnight Rider", some of the people were on the train tracks and were struck by a north bound train, killing one and injuring seven others.

The woman who was killed has been identified as Sarah Elizabeth Jones, 27, a Columbia native currently living in Atlanta, Georgia.

The investigation is ongoing and CSX Railroad personnel and film crew personnel are all cooperating in the investigation.
