Columbia Police Search for Missing Man
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia Police are searching for a man who hasn't been seen for over a month and a half.
Investigators are asking for the public's help to locate 27-year-old Jonathan Wayne Edmond, Jr.
According to his mother, he hasn't been seen since May 15th when he left a home on Eerie Street. He was reported missing a month later.
"She advised that it had been anywhere from three weeks to a month since she'd heard from him," said Columbia Police Department Sgt. Arthur Thomas. Thomas' unit, the Special Victims Unit, is trying to locate the missing man. "As we've tracked the timeline down, and have spoken with friends and family, thus far, there is no element of foul play."
His mother, Rosa Breeland, said Edmond, Jr. is frequently active on Facebook, but his account has now gone silent.
Breeland said she has also attempted to contact him on his cell phone, but it would "go to voice mail."
Edmond, Jr.'s mother said the reason she waited a month to report her son missing was that, at 27-years-old, she assumed he was taking care of himself and neglected to contact her. She became worried, she said, when his girlfriend called her looking for him, too.
"She told me that she hadn't heard from him and that's when I got kind of concerned."
Edmond's family says while it's not unusual for him to occasionally leave locations, they are worried about him in this instance. They also say he has diabetes and requires medication.
Thomas said investigators had checked hospitals and jails looking for Edmond, Jr. All leads have gone cold, he said.
Edwards is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
