Cassatt, SC (WTLX)-- The Kershaw County Coroner, David West, said two people died after a horrible accident in Kershaw County just after midnight Wednesday.
According to the coroner, Chad E. Sullivan, 41, was driving an 18-Wheeler, North along Highway 1. He collided with Laney Bowen, 42, the driver of a Toyota Tundra was traveling South on Highway 1. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says that Bowen crossed over the center line and crashed into Sullivan's truck causing him to then swerve and hit a tree. Bowen was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially thrown from the vehicle.
Investigators said that Sullivan was found trapped under his 18-Wheeler, while Bowen was found hanging from the cab of his Toyota Tundra.
West told News 19, "I've never seen a wreck this bad, pieces of the Toyota are all over the road."
The intersection of Highway 1 and West Drive is still closed. The accident remains under investigation by The South Carolina Highway Patrol.
