Coroner Names Person Found in Saluda River

COLUMBIA, SC - (WLTX) The identity of the person who was found in the Saluda River has been released.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says Deslin Mitchell, 27, of West Columbia, went missing June 23 at around 6:00 p.m. behind the Riverbanks Zoo. His body was later recovered Saturday afternoon.

An autopsy shows that the cause of death was due to drowning. Officials say it is unclear how Mitchell ended up in the river.
