Crash Flips Over Lexington Deputy's Vehicle

Gaston, SC (WLTX) - A collision between a Lexington County Sheriff's Department SUV and another vehicle ended with the officer's vehicle flipped over on its roof.

The collision took place around 7 p.m. on U.S. 321 near the intersection of Mack Street in Gaston.

Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said his officer had his lights and siren while responding to a call when the other car collided with his SUV.

The deputy and a passenger in the other car were both taken to the hospital. McCarty says it appears neither of the persons suffered serious injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
