Deputies: Man Kills Boss After Being Fired

Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies have arrested a man they say killed his former employer last Saturday.

Terrance Gerome Davis, 37, was arrested on Monday in the death of 65- year-old Vernon Thompson.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says deputies were contacted on Saturday, August 2 at 2:30 p.m. in regards to an assault victim that arrived at the Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

According to officials, Thompson told deputies that Davis punched him after he fired him from his Whaley Street business.

Thompson was transported to Palmetto Health Richland, where he later died Sunday morning.

The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office says Thompson died from blunt force injury to the head.

Authorities says the investigation indicates that Davis struck Thompson in the head twice.

Sheriff Ravenell states, "Davis has cooperated with investigators and willingly talked with officers when he learned of the victim's death."

Davis has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
