Berkeley County, SC (WLTX) - Berkeley County deputies say they're going to shame anyone they catch looting during Hurricane Matthew.
Berkeley County is near the coast, and many residents there evacuated to get away from the powerful storm.
"We have a lot of deputies out there keeping y'all safe from the criminals," deputies say. "Know that every single one that we catch for looting during the state of emergency will be posted here for all to see. Let's hope there are none."
Looting is always illegal, of course, but it's specifically outlined as a felony during a state of emergency. South Carolina has been at emergency status since Tuesday.
