Deputies: Toddler Killed While Dad was Working with Gun

Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have released more details of an accidental shooting that left a two-year-old girl dead and her father and sister injured.

Officers say around 6 p.m. Thursday, the father was with his two girls inside a unit at the Meredith Square Town Homes off Bookfield Road.  Deputies say early evidence suggests the father was attempting to make the gun safe, and the weapon went off, striking him in the hand and both of his daughters in the upper body.

His two-year-old daughter, Heaven Miller, died from her injuries at the hospital. The four-year-old daughter suffered what are described as non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the death continues.
