Don't Forget These Christmas Mailing Deadlines

US Postal service expects to process and deliver nearly 3 billion pieced of mail

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Inside the United States Postal Service's distribution center in West Columbia employees are working around the clock to process your mail and deliver it before Christmas.

According to the USPS, hundreds of thousands of pieces of mail will be distributed from this site each day and nearly 3 billion pieces of mail will be processed and delivered throughout the country this week.

We're told December 18 is the busiest day of all since December 19 is the recommended deadline for First Class Mail to be delivered by Christmas Day.

Other deadlines include:

December 20 - Priority Mail

December 20 - Hawaii to Mainland Priority Mail Express

December 20 - Alaska to Mainland Priority Mail and First Class Mail

December 21 - Alaska to Mainland Priority Mail Express

December 22 - Priority Mail Express
