(WLTX) -- One person died in a fatal accident after crashing into a tree on Interstate 26, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The Richland County Coroner's Office identified the driver as 21-year-old Darryl Johnson, 21. He died from blunt head trauma.
Troopers say the incident happened at 5:00 a.m. near mile marker 99. Johnson was driving east on the interstate in a 2008 Infinity. He ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and stuck a tree on the right side of the highway. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
This collision remains under investigation.
