Fmr. Gamecock Hampton Charged with Disorderly Conduct

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Former South Carolina football star Victor Hampton is facing a charge of disorderly conduct after getting into a shouting match with his sister earlier this month.

The incident happened at a home on Beltline Boulevard in Columbia on April 6th.

According to an incident report with the Columbia Police Department, Victor Hampton and his sister, Victoria, got into a verbal fight. When police arrived, they say the two were continuing to fight, even as the officers tried to talk to them. At one point, the officer reported Victoria Hampton had to be physically restrained by her mother, who was also there.

The officer said as he took Victoria to his patrol car to try and calm the situation, Victor kept yelling, and the officer at that point decided to arrest them both. Both have been released from jail on bond.

"Frankly, this matter was nothing more than a common sibling spat," Hampton said in a statement released through his attorney. "My sister and I are extremely close. We are embarrassed and regret this situation and the way it reflects on our family, and we are working to put this behind us."

Hampton, who's originally from Darlington, was a member of the Gamecocks from 2010 to 2014. He's working to be drafted in next month's NFL Draft.
