Forrest Wood Cup Tournament Bringing Money to the Midlands

Many top anglers have come to the Midlands for the big tournament.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Over 50 of the best anglers in the nation have been on Lake Murray for the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) tournament that's bringing money to the Midlands.

The Forrest Wood Cup tournament wrapped up its second day on Saturday.

Between the tournament staff and anglers on the lake and the thousands of fans that flocked to the FLW Tour expo at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, our economy is seeing a boost in the hotel and restaurant industries.'
"When we come into town, we're bringing in exhibitors, anglers, families, fans," said Brian Johnson with the FLW Tour, "they all have to sleep somewhere."
Employees at Liberty Tap Room and Grill in the Vista says they've been seeing a lot of that crowd.
"We can tell people are from the expo because they have stuff on their shirts or bags in their hands, you know, little hats and gear and stuff like that," said Sally Fanjoy, a host at Liberty,"so it's fun. That's a great conversation starter for people too, we're like, 'Hey! Tell us where you're from!' It's so fun to see so many people from so many different places come in."
The Forrest Wood Cup tournament ends on Sunday.
