How to Recognize and Report Animal Cruelty:

If you suspect or have witnessed a case of animal cruelty, please speak up! You can report any cases of animal cruelty to Denise Wilkinson at dwilkinson@pawmettolifeline.org, who serves on the Richland County Animal Cruelty Task Force. Try to gather the following information before submitting a report of animal cruelty:

  1. A concise, written, factual statement of what you observed—giving dates and approximate times whenever possible—to provide to law enforcement.
  2. Photographs of the location, the animals in question and the surrounding area. Note: do not put yourself in danger! Do not enter another person's property without permission, and exercise great caution around unfamiliar animals who may be frightened or in pain.
  3. If you can, provide names and contact information of other people who have firsthand information about the abusive situation.

Pawmetto Lifeline is confident that the Lexington County Police Department will soon capture and serve justice to the man seen in the video violently mistreating this dog. Deloris Mungo, Chair Emeritus and Founder of Pawmetto Lifeline, is offering a $1,000 reward to the person that can contribute information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man in this video. Call 1-888-CRIME SC (888-274-6372), Text TIPSC plus your tip info to CRIMES (274637), visit www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and email a tip.
