Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Last week's sexual assault in Columbia's Five Points was just the latest crime we've reported in the area. We wanted to see if crime in Five Points has increased or decreased over the year.

According to the Columbia Police Department's crime analysis, there have been an increase in some areas and a decrease in other areas.

Here's a look at the offenses:

  • Homicide:                                      0 (2016)             0 (2017)
  • Rape:                                            3 (2016)              4 (2017)
  • Robbery:                                     11 (2016)              7 (2017)

These numbers are the Year-to-Date total.

"We've seen decreased in some areas, a slight increase in other areas. Overall, we've had a lot more people reporting the crime than just ignoring the crime and thinking nothing is going to happen with them," said Corporal John Myers.
