Columbia police are investigating a hit and run collision that injured a moped driver, according to the Columbia Police Department.
A patrolman found a man lying on the ground at the 300 block of Sunset Drive Sunday afternoon, according to investigators. The man told officers he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle, causing him to lose control of his moped and slide across the road.
The 52-year-old victim suffered a broken ankle and several abrasions, police say. He has since been treated and released from a local hospital, according to police.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle in question did not stop after the collision.
