Hot, Humid Thursday

Mostly dry, hot and humid Thursday. Rain chances increase Friday and into Saturday.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Mostly dry, hot, humid weather is on the way for Thursday. The rain chances will increase Friday and into Saturday.

It was mostly cloudy for the majority of the Midlands Wednesday. A few areas received some rain, but many of us were dry. Temperatures for the most part only hit the middle and upper 80s Wednesday afternoon.

A little more sunshine is expected Thursday and it will be a little hotter. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s Thursday. There is only a small chance for an isolated thunderstorm Thursday afternoon.

The rain chances will increase later Friday and into Saturday as a cold front approaches the area. There will be a chance for showers and storms beginning Friday afternoon. The chance for rain will continue into the morning hours of Saturday.

The front should move through later in the day Saturday. Slightly cooler, dryer air will filter into the Midlands after the rain ends. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s Sunday through Wednesday. Low temperatures may fall into the upper 60s. This would be a little below normal.

Columbia's temperature has not dropped into the 60s since June 29. Our average low for this time of the year is 72 degrees.

There is little chance for rain Sunday through Tuesday, but we will make a mention of an isolated thunderstorm by Wednesday.
