Inactive World War II Bomb Found in Summit Neighborhood

The Richland County Sheriff's Office discovered an immobile explosive device Saturday morning.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Office discovered an immobile explosive device Saturday morning.

The device was a training round from World War II, according to deputies.

Construction workers reportedly found the round on Barony Place Drive in the Summit neighborhood.

Deputies say it poses no danger.

During World War II, the military used parts of northeast Richland County has a bombing range for pilots to practices their runs. Over the years, a number of old bombs have been discovered in the area.
