Large Fire in North Myrtle Beach Following Hurricane Matthew

Several buildings in North Myrtle Beach burned Saturday evening following Hurricane Matthew.

North Myrtle Beach, SC (WPDE) - Firefighters in North Myrtle Beach battled a large fire which consumed several buildings on Saturday evening and continued to burn into Sunday morning.

The fire was in the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach.

Authorities are now investigating the blaze. There have been no reports of injuries.

The blaze had spread to at least four structures by around 9 p.m., according to The Sun News.

WPDE-TV reporter Summer Dashe was at the scene by around 9:30 p.m.

Soon after she arrived and began recording video, the fire moved from the roofline of one building to another.

The buildings are on oceanfront property within evacuation Zone A, which was under a mandatory evacuation ahead of Hurricane Matthew.

Sea Mountain Highway, a primary roadway into and out of Cherry Grove, was among those that became unusable.
