Thanksgiving Travel Weather Forecast: What to Expect

Daniel Bond's evening forecast for Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The weather should not be a problem for most of the country if you are traveling Wednesday.

Tuesday was mostly cloudy around the state and a few areas had some rain, but weather conditions will improve Wednesday.

A low pressure system that brought the clouds Tuesday will move away from our area. Partly cloudy skies and dry conditions are expected for most of the Southeast Wednesday.

Across the nation, many travelers will have smooth sailing whether it is by road or air Wednesday. However, rain and some snow is possible in the Northeast and near the Great Lake States.

Rain is also possible in the Northwest with some snow in the higher elevations. A shower or thunderstorm is possible in Florida Wednesday.

For Thanksgiving Day, another system will develop out of the Gulf of Mexico and move along the Carolina coast. Mostly cloudy skies, cooler temperatures are expected for the Midlands. An isolated shower will be possible Thursday too.

Black Friday will be partly cloudy and mild. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s. The warm, dry weather will continue into Saturday. High temperatures for the first half of the weekend will be in the middle to upper 60s.
