Lugoff-Elgin Student Disciplined for Trump Message

The district says they've dealt with the matter.

Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - A message titled "what Trump will help with" written on a dry erase board at Lugoff-Elgin high school drew attention on social media Thursday.

The post talks about "very strong walls" and included messages about black people and Mexicans with an image labeled Trump train.

Kershaw County School District officials say a substitute teacher was in the classroom at the time the message was drawn.

"We've dealt with the matter," said Mary Anne Byrd with Kershaw County Schools. "It was inappropriate. Certainly those that were involved have been made aware the circumstances of their actions. We don't stand for anybody having anything that is inappropriate in a classroom. Sometimes things in the community come into the school.
They find their way into the classroom and we're not going to have it. It's been dealt with."

The district says they don't give out details on disciplinary actions involving students.
