Man Accused of Running Over Two Others With His Truck, Later Found Hiding Under House

Investigators in Kershaw County found an Elgin man hiding under his home, after they say he ran over two men with his truck.

ELGIN, S.C. (WLTX) - Kershaw County investigators say they found an Elgin man hiding under his house, two days after they say he ran over two men with his pickup truck.

Steven Wayne Lee, Jr., who is 47-years-old, is charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Deputies with the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office say on 9:30 p.m. Friday, they were dispatched to a home on Watts Hill Road in Elgin. When they arrived, they found two victims, who told them they'd argued with Lee. At some point, Lee reportedly took off in his truck, then turned around and drove into the front yard of where the victims were standing and hit them.

Witnesses say Lee then drove off, but his truck broke down a short distance away. Relatives of the victims then confronted Lee, as they say he tried to remove the license plate from his truck. They then say Lee ran away.

Investigators say both victims knew Lee. After obtaining warrants for Lee, deputies say they went to his house on Sunday and found him hiding under it.

Lee, Jr. is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center. A judge has denied him bond.
