Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Persistence paid off for a Midlands resident, who won $2 million in Saturday's Powerball drawing.
The winner, who asked not to be identified, played the same combinations of birthday and anniversaries for the past seven years.
“I’m not going to do anything crazy,” said the winner. “I don’t have my eyes on a new Camaro or anything. I plan to purchase a house and live without worrying about a mortgage.”
The $1 million winnings were multiplied to $2 million, since a PowerPlay was purchased for an additional $1.
The Sunoco at 1083 Broad St. in Sumter received a commission of $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing is $103 million.
