Missing Benedict College Student Found Dead

The search for 22-year-old Jerrell White had a tragic end.

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (WCNC/WLTX) -  Lancaster County deputies have found the body of a missing 22-year-old Benedict College student.  

Saturday morning, Lancaster County Coroner's office responded to a call on Pleasant Road. Jerrell White's body was found in a pond near where he was last seen Wednesday in the 4000 block of of the road in Lancaster.

White was a rising sophomore at Benedict College. 

"The Benedict College Family is heartbroken about the passing of Mr. Jerrell Ketron Eugene White," the school said in a statement. " He was a bright and talented young man and he will be dearly missed. Please join the Benedict College Family as we pray for our fallen tiger and his family."

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. White’s family and friends during this difficult time. I have spent time with his mother and other family members, and I know these last few days have been hard for them as they and authorities have searched for Mr. White." said Sheriff Barry Faile.

"This is not the outcome any of us hoped for, but we expect the autopsy results and the SLED forensics investigation will provide answers to the questions we have about Mr. White’s disappearance and death."

An autopsy is scheduled for July 9 to determine the actual cause of death.
