Mom, Two Kids in Critical Condition After Car Goes Into Pond

A Sumter mother and two children remain in a Columbia hospital tonight in critical condition after the vehicle they were in crashed into a retention pond last night.

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Sumter police say a mother and her two children remain in critical condition after their car went into a retention pond Thursday night.

The incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. next to the Dillon Trace apartments on North Wise Drive.

The grandmother, who was also in the car, was able to make it out safely. But the mother and her 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old couldn't.
