New Charges Filed in SC School Shooting

Townville, SC (The Greenville News) - Additional charges have been filed in connection with the shootings at Townville Elementary School, the Solicitor's Office said.

One of the attempted murder charges has been upgraded to murder after the death of Jacob Hall, Solicitor Chrissy Adams said. The 14-year-old juvenile suspect in the case has also been charged with five counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Adams also said a charge of attempted murder has been added after the identification of another child victim. This was a victim that had not previously been identified, so it's unclear how that victim was involved in the events of the day.

According to authorities, the suspect shot his 47-year-old father, Jeffrey Dewitt Osborne, multiple times as he sat on the couch in his den at their home on Osborne Road on Wednesday.

The gunman drove a pickup to Townville Elementary where he crashed into a chain-link fence and opened fire on a teacher and students heading out for recess. A teacher then called 911 to report the shooting.

Authorities initially said two children and a teacher were injured in the shooting.
