Overnight Apartment Fire Leaves Residents Displaced

A fire broke out at an apartment complex on Evelyn Drive.

COLUMBIA, SC - (WLTX) -- Several residents of a local apartment are displaced following a structure fire that occurred early Sunday morning. 

Firefighters from the Columbia Fire Department say they responded at 1:30 a.m. to 525 Evelyn Drive, just off of Fernadina Road.

A spokesperson from the American Red Cross says four apartment units caught fire and the they will be assisting 15 residents. Firefighters were able to rescue one resident from the second floor of the building. 

The Richland County Fire Marshall is investigating the blaze that caused an estimated $150,000 in damages.
