Part of Southeast Columbia Lost Lights Monday

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A large portion of the southeast side of Columbia lost its lights Monday after a power outage there.

Lights started going off in the area around 11:30 a.m. Monday. The bulk of the outages were near the intersection of Garners Ferry, Leesburg Road, and Interstate 77.

At its peak, SCE&G reports 1,176 homes and businesses were without power. In under two hours, however, nearly all people had their electricity restores.

The cause of the outage is not yet known.
