Police Investigating Possible Pets Inc. Thrift Store Theft

West Columbia, SC (WLTX)-West Columbia Police are investigating two separate incidents at Thrift Avenue on Sunset Boulevard.

"Pets Inc. is relying on thrift avenue, our thrift store, to bring in more money and we have always been reliable to do that," said Nathan Pope, warehouse supervisor at Thrift Avenue.

Pope says video footage captured by their surveillance cameras on July 8th and July 11th shows a suspect covering up their cameras.

He filed incidents reports with the police department but isn't sure exactly what was taken because the items had not been through inventory yet.

Pope says he believes the woman in the video is a former employee.

"It is very sad she would take out her aggression in this manor because consequently it takes away funding from us and ultimately it impacts the animals and their well being," said Pope.

The thrift store donates 98.7% percent of their proceeds to Pets Inc. to help cover the cost of running the shelter.
