Public Memorial to Be Held for Fallen K-9 Officer

Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies say there will be a public memorial service for the K-9 officer who passed away a week ago.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the tribute for "Tosca" will take place August 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the sheriff department's headquarters on Two Notch Road in Columbia.

Tosca died August 5 after suffering a seizure. The Belgian Malinois was taken to the hospital by her handler, Deputy Emily Lemmond, but died a short time later.

Memorial services for Richland County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Tosca will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:30am at 5623 Two Notch Road, Columbia (Richland Sheriff’s Department Headquarters).

K-9 Tosca was trained in drug detection, tracking, suspect apprehension, and more.

The Sheriff says in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to provide vests to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit in the name of K-9 Tosca. You can forward your support to the Richland County Sheriff’s Foundation, PO Box 1182 Columbia, South Carolina, 29202.
