Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Rain is likely today as a system moves through the area. Thursday will be dry, but much cooler.
A low pressure system and an associated cold front will move across the area today. Rain will be likely through a good portion of the day. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible, but the severe weather threat appears to be low.
Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 0.25 to 1 inch, but our in-house forecast model is indicated higher amounts. The area has been very dry. Any amount of rain will be welcomed to help the abnormally dry conditions.
The showers will taper off tonight into early Thursday morning. The clouds will stick around Thursday. High temperatures today will be in the middle to upper 60s. High temperatures Thursday will be in the lower 50s.
Some sunshine will return to the area Friday, but over the holiday weekend there will be a few chances for rain.
