Robbed, Carjacked and Kidnapped: Midlands Survivor Shares Her Story

One of the victims is being hailed as a hero for escaping what may have ended in rape. We're not releasing her last name...but Jordan was robbed at gunpoint, carjacked and kidnappedBut she had the will and found a way to escape.

Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Nicknamed "James Bond" by Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott for her quick thinking, Jordan is a survivor. She was robbed at gunpoint by three men at the Village at Columbia Apartments after coming home from work early Wednesday morning.

"I instantly started screaming and they pushed me to the ground and shoved a gun towards me and told me that if I didn't shut up that they would shoot me," she said.

One of the robbers ran off, but the other two forced her back into her car and told her to drive. Jordan's car has a manual transmission and the two men were unable to drive stick shift.

"I was asking them, "Why I can't just leave? Why can't you just leave me here?' And they said that I had to come with (them) to get money out of the ATM," she said.

Jordan calmed down and thought about her possible scenarios to escape as she drove toward the Wells Fargo ATM off of Bluff Road.

"Then they said that I was going to be sexually assaulted by them as well, so at that point I decided that it's time and I need to get myself out of this situation," she said.

So she jumped.

"I just saw my opportunity. I threw it in to neutral and just opened the door and fell out," she said.

Jordan credits her mother for her bravery.

“I thought back to my mom. She was almost a victim of sexual assault when she was in college and she fought back and fought the man off and I thought that I am going to be strong like my mom and I'm going to get myself out of this,” she said.

With only a few cuts and bruises, Jordan said it's the best she could have asked for and credits what she's learned as a criminal justice major at USC for her quick thinking.

"I always think in my head (that) if I was in this position would I be able to keep a cool head? Would I be able to get out of it? And I kind of wanted to prove to myself that I could," she said.

And she did. Jordan mentioned three suspects in this case. We asked Sheriff Lott Thursday if the department was looking for someone else. He said that the investigation is still ongoing. If you believe you have information that help deputies in this case call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
