Columbia, SC (WLTX)--South Carolina school district superintendents along with Senior Military personnel from the Army National Guard and Reserves held a ceremony Thursday to demonstrate their support for military-connected students and families.
In the midlands, there are three military installations, Shaw Air Force Base, and Fort Jackson. School leaders said that they recognize the importance that the Department of Defense, the Department of the Army and all military services place on the education of the service members' dependents. On Thursday, the superintendents signed a resolution in support of military-connected students. The resolution recounts many of the challenges faced by military-connected students and affirms the school districts' commitment to caring for and serving those students.
South Carolina is the first state in the nation to have all school districts come together to affirm their support for military-connected students. This action demonstrates South Carolina's deep commitment to our military service members, their families and especially their children.
