The shelter opened at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1481 Cornerstone Church on Chestnut Street.

About 15 people who live at the Malibu Apartments have been displaced from their homes.

Approximately 9 inches of rain fell in Orangeburg over a five-hour period Monday.
