Clarendon County, SC (WLTX) - A manhunt is underway looking for a suspect that Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett calls "armed and dangerous".
According to the sheriff, the military contacted his department about a soldier they were reporting as AWOL (absent without leave) and requested help in finding him.
A Clarendon deputy found that the suspect, 24-year-old Zachary Crosby, had a grandmother who was living in the Silver community. As two deputies approached the home, they say the suspect came out of the house and ran.
As the manhunt ensued, the military told deputies that Crosby should always be considered armed and dangerous.
Sheriff Garrett says that if you see the suspect, who is believed to be wearing khaki pants, no shirt and no shoes, do not approach and immediately call law enforcement.
