Bishopville, SC (WLTX) - The Lee County Sheriff's Department has found the body of a missing teen, and say he was likely killed during a dispute.
Officers say a little after 3 p.m. Tuesday, deputies discovered the remains of 17-year-old Shakez Bracey. Investigators say Bracey had been shot to death.
He was first reported missing last Friday.
Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon says Bracey and 18-year old Dontrell Fortune got into a dispute over money, and that's when Fortune and three others led Bracey to Old English Lane and killed him Friday night.
Three minors were arrested Tuesday night in connection with Bracey's death.
Sheriff Simon says that the case is complex and is gang related.
"We've gotta do something about it, we can't just sit back and wait for things like this to happen. We have to be proactive because what happened this weekend can happen next weekend, it can happen tomorrow," said Simon.
Fortune was then shot and killed Saturday morning in apparent retaliation. The following suspects--Davon Tyrell McFadden, 18, Kevin Oneal White, 18, Sunallah Sadat Liles, 17 and Sarah Wright Goodman, 48--were arrested Sunday in connection with his death. Two more suspects--19-year-old Gewanna Laretta Burton and Kalvon Goodman--were arrested Monday night.
"We've gotta do something about it, we have to be proactive and not reactive. I just don't want to see this. It just hurts my heart. It just hurts this whole department to see what happened this week."
