Augusta, GA (WLTX) – Fans from all over made their way to Augusta, the hometown of the "Godfather of Soul," James Brown for the premier of "Get On Up," a story about his life.
"I feel good man, I feel good," said actor Chad Boseman who played the role of James Brown in the movie.
Boseman says it was a no-brainer to come back to James Brown's hometown to premier the movie about his life.
In the midst of all the cameras and stars, were longtime fans of the famed singer.
"I got the opportunity to see him at the Jazz Festival in the Netherlands and he was awesome and I was a proud little girl in the audience, I was saying I'm from Augusta, I'm your home girl," said a fan in the crowd.
We talked with Boseman and Augusta native Keith Robinson who also played a role in the movie about his legacy.
"He's the type of person that you continue to study and adore, like you continue to adore Shakespeare, you continue to adore the great singers, so everyone still appreciates him in hip hop music and in the business so its an incredible thing to be a part of," said Boseman.
"James Brown represents a lot of things for artists. He kicked down a lot of doors and its great to be a part of this movie," said Robinson.
The Brown family was also in attendance. His daughter Dianna Brown and his son James Brown II say they were so happy to have the premiere in their father's hometown.
"It makes all of us happy, I'm so happy," said James Brown II.
"It is a blessed night. We feel so good to see everyone come out to be a part of this, I know dads big smile is going really well in heaven tonight," said Dianna Brown.
The movie shows in all theaters next Saturday.
