State Christmas Tree Arrives in Columbia

The 51st annual Governor's Carolighting will be held on November 27.

Columnbia, SC (WLTX) - The holiday season has officially begun in South Carolina's capital.

The official Christmas tree, a 35-foot Concolor Fir, arrived at the South Carolina State House in Columbia this morning.

This is the 6th year that the Columbia Garden Club and Garden Club of South Carolina have worked with Pinetum Christmas Tree Farm in Swanton, Maryland, to procure the tree. Transportation was provided by TimberTech in Greer.

It takes quite a few decorations to fill a tree that size — 900 to be exact. The garden clubs will hang them in the coming days, while SCE&G will string more than 13,000 LED lights.

The tree will be lit during the 51st annual Governor's Carolighting at 7 p.m. on November 27 on the South Carolina State House North Lawn.
