'These Guys Saved My Life,' Says SC State Player

Ty Solomon fell to the sideline during the team's game against NC State.

RALEIGH, NC (WLTX) - South Carolina State University player Ty Solomon says he owes his life to the men who provided emergency treatment to him after he collapsed during a game.

Solomon posted his first comment online since his medical emergency during Saturday's contest against NC State up in Raleigh. The frightening incident became national news, getting discussed on broadcasts including the national evening news shows and ESPN.

"I am very thankful to have had this group of guys in my life," Solomon said. "I’m feeling blessed these guys literally saved my life using CPR such a blessing and perfect timing thank you guys again."

Solomon, a senior on the team, was on the bench early in the first half when he suddenly went to the ground. The team's trainer and EMTs began CPR, and cameras caught them doing chest compressions to keep Solomon alive.

As the situation unfolded, teammates and fans began crying and praying. Eventually, though, he was loaded onto a stretcher and rushed to the hospital.

When he arrived, he was listed in stable condition. It's not known when he will be released from the hospital.
