(WLTX) -- Residents in Orangeburg and Marion counties affected by Hurricane Matthew can now apply for individual assistance from FEMA.
Homeowners, renters and business owners needing federal aid are urged to register with FEMA as soon as possible in the following ways:
- Online at DisasterAssistance.gov, or
- On the FEMA Mobile App, or
- Calling 800-621-3362 (FEMA)
- People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability can call 800-462-7585.
The toll free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week and multilingual operators are available. Specialist will soon be available at disaster recovery centers for anyone who may not have access to a telephone or Internet.
Grants for temporary housing, home repairs, medical expenses and burial costs are for eligible survivors. Disaster loans are also available to cover losses not fully compensated by insurance.
