United Way Announces New Flood Recovery Initiative

United Way announces a new flood recovery initiative.

Columbia, SC (WLTX)  The United Way has announced a new initiative called "Restoring Hope". 

The program is an attempt to help the ongoing flood recovery work in the Midlands. 

The Untied Way hopes that the new program will raise $2 million dollars and repair 250 flood damaged homes in the next year through private community resources. 

According to a press release, since the flooding United Way has led the Midlands Flood Recovery Group (MFRG) a team of more than 45 local organizations.  To date, MFRG, has made repairs to 86 flood-damaged homes in Richland and Lexington counties.  

According to the release, more than 1,200 households are still waiting for rebuild assistance in the Richland and Lexington counties and United Way hopes that 'Restoring Hope' will help to accelerate the rebuild process.
