Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Sunday will be hot and very muggy. Scattered showers and storms may bring some relief in the heat during the afternoon.
A tropical air mass continues to cover the Midlands and it will cover the area for the next several days. Skies will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
There will still be enough sunshine for hot conditions. Combine that with the humidity and heat index values will be near 100° or higher.
There will be a a better chance for rain Sunday as a cold front moves into the northern part of the state. The front will stall and will be stationary through Monday. There will be considerable cloudiness with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The front will drift north as a warm front Monday night, but there will be little change in the weather. It will be mostly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms into Wednesday.
Another cold front will push through the Midlands later Wednesday. Skies will become partly cloudy for the end of the week with a chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will begin to rise with more sunshine and should be in the lower to middle 90s by Friday.
